quirky corky...

...I'm sorry for that title. I really am.

The other day, I went to Target and saw THE cutest cork board I had ever seen in my life. I would have bought it, but it was a hefty $30 for a little tiny cork board. No thank you. So, like the true crafter I am (hah) I decided that I could make one myself.
So, I snatched up some cork tiles and got to work. I'm lovin' the finished result, so I thought I'd share a little tutorial for you.
Step one: tape off your stripes. I probably should have used a ruler, but I kind of just eyeballed it. I'm lazy.
Step two: choose a few paint colors you love and start paining the stripes.
Step three: pull the tape off and admire it/realize it needs a little more color.
Step four: tape it off again...Become frustrated when you realize the tape no longer sticks how you would like it to, but paint it anyway. Resulting in the purple bleeding (shed a few tears, if you feel the need)
And there you have it, your very own  customized cork board. Yummm.

I hung mine on my back door so that I could stick things on there that I would normally forget. Like my grocery list. Or...A little friendly reminder for Mr. Oops! I Craft My Pants.

This project was super easy. Let me know if you attempt it. I would LOVE to see it.

  5. Thanks everyone. I'm super happy with how it turned out.

Bree, I just used plain ol' craft paint. Ya know, the bottles you can get at Walmart for like 50 cents? It worked perfectly!

  12. I already bought 4 cork tiles like that for my office and was thinking of what to do with them. Was going to cover with fabric, but maybe I'll paint them. Thanks for the idea.
