HELP!
Okay, so I finally made a craft (GASP)...But, the problem is, I don't know how to hang it (it's a wreath)...Does anyone know how to hang a wreath like this?...With ribbon? It boggles my mind looking at pictures. Where does the ribbon attach? Will it show inside the house?

You use a typical metal wreath hanger you can buy at any store - typically during the Christmas season and wrap ribbon over it, attaching the bow to the tip of the hanger. Probably a good idea to glue the ribbon on to it or tack it on and not wrap it over the door - just glue it to the front of the hanger. Hope this helped.
ReplyDeleteI use fishing line attached to a tack on the top of my door. It doesn't show and fishing line is very strong!
ReplyDeleteMy way of hanging it may not be the "correct" way, but, I would us a heavy duty suction cup with a hook, and hang the actual wreath with that. THEN, I would tape or secure the ribbon up over the top of the door securing it to the very top. This would work on a door that is not open and closed often.
ReplyDeleteYou could hang it regular with an over the door wreath hanger and then attach the ribbon to that with double sided tape to hide it. Good luck! :)
ReplyDeleteIt looks like maybe they covered a wreath hanger with the ribbon and tied a bow to the front hook part. Maybe?

ReplyDeleteI've used a tack in the top of the door. Then I shut the door and cut off the little bit of ribbon that shows on the back of the door. Can't wait to see the wreath!
ReplyDeleteOk well, this probably won't help you, but my sister and I hung a wreath on her front door that had a ribbon like that, and we just used clear packaging tape and taped the ribbon across the very top of the door. You couldn't see the tape when you opened or closed the door, and you didnt have any ribbon hanging on the inside of the door either. Although what we were hanging was really light weight so that might be why it was able to hold.
ReplyDeleteI believe the ribbon is covering the wreath hanger and the bow is actually on that little bit that wraps around the wreath. So. you can just nicely cover a wreath hanger ending the ribbon inside or outside the house (probably hot glue or other sticky medium!).

ReplyDeleteYou can use ribbon, like pictured, then a staple gun to the top of your door. You cant see it on either side. It works great=)
ReplyDeleteI made a Christmas wreath of ornaments! I hung it by ribbon on a wreath hanger. :]
ReplyDeleteJust use some little tacks or upholstery nails and pin it on the top of the door. Just make sure it's flush so that the door will still close. No one will ever see how it's attached and you'll have a beautiful ribbon hung wreath.
ReplyDeleteI have no clue how to do it, but to me it looks like she just decorated a regular wreath hook with a big bow and stretched the top ribbon tight enough that it doesn't show the long part behind it.
ReplyDeleteUse a regular wreath holder (that goes over the door) and you'll cover it with the ribbon and tape the ribbon to the top of the door with duct tape (so it won't get worn off by the opening/closing of the door.)

we nailed a ribbon (medium width and black cause our door is dark blus) to the top of our door. I use my staple gun and just staple whichever wreath I want at the moment to it. We just hung our easter wreath and I have beautiful bunny ribbon and I just looped it thru the center of my wreath, My bow is attached seperately and sometimes I don't have a bow, and then I just staple a few place and it looks great. I have alot of people ask me how I do it without damaging my door and thats how.

Anyway, here it is... and if you can't get it to load - essentially they just use strong tacks to tack the two ends of the ribbon to the top of the door. easy peezy.

actually no...I couldn't tell ya...And usually I like to find a solution for everything! I would just have the ribbon make a loop to hang it, I dont think it would change the look of it much.

We've done this before by just pinning the ribbon to the top of the door (the top little 1" wide part) with an upholstery tack since it is flat on top. You can trim your ribbon so it won't show on the inside of the door. Good Luck!!

ReplyDeleteWhat I do with wreaths like that is hang the actual wreath on a nail and then pull the ribbon up to the top of the door and secure with a piece of tape. That way the ribbon doesn't actually hold the weight of the wreath. And you may see a tiny bit of the ribbon on the inside, like you would if you used one of those metal door hanger thingys. Does that make any sense?
ReplyDeleteMy only suggestions would be to use tacks on the top of the door in the door jam. I would use two on each end of the ribbon since it looks wide. If you just tack it in the middle it would hang funny, maybe. Just a thought.
ReplyDeleteWe used ribbon to hang a wreath on our door at work by stapling the ribbon onto the top of the door. Probably not the least destructive way, but who is ever going to see the top of the door?

Off topic, but i have a wreath just like this at our house, and when i hung it up on October 15th, 3 people asked me if we had had a death in the family...LOL!
