I have had a few thoughts floating around my brain for a few days, so I thought I would get 'em out on the blog.
Thought #1- My mom's class reeeally needs more boxtops. They are the cutest little class which you can read more about here. Not sure what a box top is? No problem! It's this cute little thing on the packaging of a lot of different products. They look like this. Each box top is worth ten cents, and will go toward helping schools. Awesome. So, if you have a few laying around (or, wouldn't mind starting to keep some to send), that would make my mom's class so happy. So far, they have box tops from around 6 other states (and Canada!), they have a blast looking on the map and trying to figure out where their box tops are coming from. Who knows, there just might be a prize for the person who can send the most box tops to us before the end of May. Email me if you'd like the address to send them to ([email protected])
Thought #2: I need a good vacuum. Any suggestions? I would prefer not to spend over $200, but if it's an absolutely amazing one, I might just have to spend more.
Thought #3: I wish I liked to run. Like, really wish. How did all you runners out there get into it? I heard the couch to 5k works really well, but I am just scared for some reason. I definitely need to get in better shape, though. hmmm. Any tips and tricks would be awesome. Also, I'd love a work out buddy. Maybe that would keep me motivated.
Thought #4: I need to start a book club. Or a craft club. Or a cooking club. SOMETHING like that. I just don't have many real life friends who are interested in stuff like that. It makes me sad.
Thought #5: Why can I never sleep before 2 am? It's impossible, I swear. At least it leaves me lots of time to craft. I wish I were more of a morning person than a night person, though. Sleeping in wastes my day.
Thought #6: I wonder who reads my blog. I wish I could get to know everyone. You should definitely leave a comment on this post and let me know you're there, all you lurkers out there! Talk to me. Tell me anything. Do you have a blog? I'd love to read it.

Good thoughts! I have the hardest time getting to sleep too! I get my second wind about 11 at night...
You should do a frozen dinner group with your friends. I have done it for about 5 years and it's great because you make your meals, then meet and swap and then you have all sorts of great meals and all you have to do is defrost and cook. And it's a fun thing to do with your friends.
Have a great week!
XOXO

#1 I have a bunch of box tops that I have been saving. My son is only 2 so it will be a while before that could get used.
#2 I have a Dyson that I LOVE. I got it on sale at Target for 299 and got a gift card for 100 that we were able to spend on a new carseat we need. So we lucked out.
#3 I have issues with exercise. I "just" (3 months ago) had a baby and am hoping to get outside once it starts warming up. I need some tips and tricks myself.
#4 My mom and sis are my only crafty friends. Not much of a club. LOL
5. Here I am typing at 1 in the morning when I know I have to be up early with my baby girl.
#6 Hi! I'm here. I read your blog. My name is Jami. I have blog, about my house that's under construction, the crafts I barely have time to do, my hubbs and 2kiddos. A 2 year old son and a 3 month old girl. Right now the projects we're working on is our master bath and a bar/table that were building in our kitchen because we don't have room for a table. Which I'll be posting about, hopefully soon!
There's a novel for you to read.LOL -Jami

1. I absolutely know nothing about Box Tops for Education. Does that make me a bad mother? (I can change! I can be good!)
2. We are still looking for a good one. So I am glad to know I am not only one who is suffering.
3. I used to be a runner, I ran for 1 and 2 miles back in high school. And now, after having girls, walk one mile make me breathless. Gosh, I am so out of shape. Now, I am doing Wii Fit! It is so fun! But I would love to have a workout buddy as well.
4. If you start the club, let me know! Then I could stop by. =D Or if I create one, I would let you know.
5. Seriously, you are scaring me, because we have so many things in common. I only sleep for 2 to 5 hours everyday, in the afternoon!! I am seeing a doctor about this.
6. I am your stalker.
Much love,
Little Dolly
i am totally going to e'mail you! i've been saving box tops for TWO YEARS because for whatever reason, i started saving them a few months before my first child was born. there are maybe 1 or 2 expired ones in there, but i got most of them out over a month ago. also? i just started reading your blog over the last month or so, and so far i've yet to be disappointed. :) i have a blog, but as of right now i barely ever post anything (i've got a 1 year old, well... 1 on wednesday and a 2 1/2 year old.) both in diapers. ugh. so my posts are few and far between right now. soon i'll update! and eventually i'll get around to posting some crafts instead of whining so much.
Hi, I check your blog every day and I love it. Also, I get a little chuckle every time I read the title. Even though I see it every day. You just have the best blog title ever. I am also loving your header right now. Trees are awesome, silhouettes are awesome, the combo is awesome awesome! My friend Susan and I have a little crafty blog over here: crafterhours.blogspot.com if you want to check it out. If I lived where ever you live in America, I would be your work-out buddy!
I read your blog and you are on my blog roll!
1. U can't have my boxtops...I own a 6 yr old :)
2. Save the money you'd spend on a vacuum and hire someone to do it for you.
3. I wish we lived closer, I so need a motivation buddy. Even if it's running to get ice cream!
4. My sewing machine is portable.
5. With you on the sleep thing...night owls.
6. I am right here with you...everyday.
XOXO
1. I don't think they have those box tops up here in Canada
2. go for the dyson
3. google crossfit, I hate running but I love crossfit
4. I know what you mean my friends don't get my crafty side
5. I am a night person too I could craft all night and sleep all day
6. I read your blog ;)
I'm a stalker, er, reader :) I subscribe via Google Reader so I never miss a post! I have a couple of sites that you can visit to learn more about me:
saraig.blogspot.com
threesimplegirls.blogspot.com
whattacutebaby.blogspot.com
Let me know if you stop by!!
De-lurking to say I'm a morning person and wish I could sleep past 7 on days I don't have to wake up for anything special. I also wish I could run but it hurts my knees. I have a blog and would love for you to read it!
Keep up the crafting and blogging, I really enjoy it :-)
Hi there, I read your blog - just found you recently and love it. Here is my blog (mostly about my 2 little boys but some crafts too).
http://kheaney-writeitdown.blogspot.com/
I am with you on # 3 about running. Last year I really made an effort to run on a treadmill and did intervals between walking and running. I tried to add 30 seconds each time to the intervals BUT as you can imagine I did not stick with it. (A little mad at myself for that one).
Just wanted to say Hi - hope you have a nice week. Kristin
1. I collect the box tops too for My Girls school.
2. I'm no help here. Mine is a Kenmore, does the job, but nothing to brag about.
3. Hub's and I did couch to 5K. I did it all the way until I injured my knee, had to stop. Had a recovery period, and never got back to it. It is definitely on my list this Spring. I felt GREAT. I admit at first, it is killer, but if you stick with it long enough the pain goes away, and you run, run, run like you don't ever want to stop. I didn't make it to 5K, but I was definitely ready... Go for it!
4. I'm with ya! For some reason I find it hard to find others "in real life" that enjoy the same things I do.
5. I'm out before 10 pm.. I'm a wimp.. lol
6. I've started reading, and following. Like what I see. I do have a blog. Stop by sometime.
Amy
I can definately help with #6 - Hi! =) I read & enjoy your blog. Not much to say atm.
Hey Erica,
I save box tops too for the school I work at... it is a great way to get some money for your school! Good luck to your mom's class!
I also have a Dyson and LOVE LOVE LOVE it! You will never need a new vacuum again!
I hate running too, and I could never get into it. I have Run/walked a 5K and it is not so bad, a good way to start if you want to run.
I am a night owl too... I don't mind it though! I like the quiet of the night.
I know you know a little about me since we blog swapped! : )
Fawnda
Hi - I discovered your blog a few weeks ago, can't remember how but glad I did. I look forward to getting to know you better and seeing all your creative ideas!
I have a group of friends, we call ourselves the Crafty Ladies, we get together every month or so and craft away - so fun!!
I love your blog! And yes I am out here reading it all the time with no comments.
I'm Katie and I live in Utah. I'm not really sure where you live.... I have 3 boys (that's including my husband) and they keep me busy. I blog about all their naughtiness. katieandadam.blogspot.com
Thanks for all the fun stuff you post!
HI!! I am Jess and I read your blog. I am a SAHM of 2 who wishes she was half as crafty of the people on the blogs I read. I also have very few IRL friends. I have a Hoover Fusion vac that I really like. I got it @ Wal-Mart and I am sure it was less than 200. We just moved to a new house last Sat and are finally about finished unpacking.
I need to lose about 60#. I have really bad knees so running is not an option for me, but I have been counting calories and have lost about 25# already.
I wish that I was a morning person. But I can't stay up late either. 10:30-11 is about the limit for me. I have to be up with the kids about 7 and then am in my pj's until 10 or 11 depending on what I have to do during the day. I was better about getting stuff done when my laptop was on the fritz, but Dh just bought me a new one on Sat so I have dishes to be washed and clothes to be folded.
:) Have a great day
I love JenJen's idea above. That sounds so perfect and fun!
I don't have many in real life crafting friends, either, but I sure treasure those that I do have!
Hi. I read your blog. I don't have a lot of crafty friends, either. Or crafty relatives. My dad is really creative, but he uses that creativity to build entire houses. He's really not into hearing about my latest brou ha ha with faulty spray paint.
I wish I liked to run, too. I like yoga, but there's not much running involved. I did quit eating sugar. That was a huge step for me. Well, I guess you could say I've drastically cut back. I do have jam on my toast occasionally.
Have a great day!
I'm right there with you on the running...I envy those who go out and do marathons. But I don't ever see myself being in the place to do any competitive running. I guess it's gotta start somewhere!
My name is Paige and I live in Phoenix, Arizona with my husband and lil one year old, Zander. I am work-from-home mom running my own graphic design business. I love anything creative and just started a blog as a creative outlet. It is www.thecreativepaige.blogspot.com. Check is out sometime when you have a chance.
I came to you by way of sytyc...
I'm sorry you won't be competing but am looking forward to what you have in store for your blog
Hey Erika! Funny, when I read your post today I had been thinking some of the same things. Literally! I'll send you box tops for a few years until my son is old enough :)
2. I just got a new vacuum. Kenmore Awesome Vacuum I never thought I'd get one like this but I hurt my knee last month and it was a lifesaver not to have to haul the whole thing around with every swipe. It's changed my life, really, and I think we might've gotten it on sale, closer to your price point.
3. I have no suggestions for working out. My husband has started training for a marathon and it makes me sick how he loses weight and thinks nothing of running 13 miles on a Saturday. Ugh. Have you tried yoga? Sometimes I do an On Demand video when I have a chance. It keeps things fresh and I don't really feel like I'm working out until later when my muscles hurt! The kids like it too.
4. I've been thinking the SAME thing about a club. Like, how do you make friends with people who like the same things you do? Just because someone has a kid the same age as your doesn't mean you guys are going to have much in common beyond that... I find myself thinking, "Where are all the cool moms???" Well we are here, blogging... I might have to go on Craig's list or something and put in a personal: Woman seeking crafty, bookish, inspirational women; looking for sense of humor, cooking skills, and the penchant to laugh at all my lame jokes..."
4. I have major insomnia too. Can't sleep at night but then wake up early in the morning exhausted. I'm hoping it's a phase. Need to pick a time to keep my brain in creative mode, instead of thinking of craft ideas when I should be recharging the batteries!
5. Hi! I'm Amiee, and I've got a blog too! I can't remember how I started reading yours but it's a lot of fun, so thanks! I have an almost 2 year old, wild little man, and three older stepkids, 12, 16, and 17. Life is pretty interesting but pretty entertaining. I wish I lived someplace warmer. My sisters are my best friends but live in Colorado and California, which is too far from Chicago!!
I am definitely a lurker :) Glad to have met you now!
#1 Can't help you with that one. I have a Kindergartner so all my boxtops go there.
#2 I agree with a Dyson. I got mine about 5 years ago.. my husband and kids gave it to me for Mother's Day. I know.. don't get me started. I accepted graciously.. but a few weeks later I gently let him know that Mother's Day isn't a day to give gifts to perform household duties. He won't make that mistake again.. but I do love that vacuum.
3. Me too!!! Before kids I was an aerobic junkie.. I was in aerobics class 2 weeks before my first son was born. I haven't been back since. It's been 10 years.
4. You need to expand your circle of friends.. get some with similar interests. (I know.. that's hard to do)
5. Sorry, can't help you with this one either. I am a morning person.. but I'm in bed by 9pm. So getting up at 5am is after 8 hours. I love mornings!
6. I read your blog... I follow you through my cousins blog. She has you in her sidebar. www.craftyvegasmom.blogspot.com
Hi!
Im Amanda
I have some box tops that I would love to share with your moms class.
I have a Bissell vacuum and I have been really happy with it. I think it was close to 200 when we bought it two years ago at Lowes.
I also do not love to run, but my husband does. He is in great shape and I am "trying" to get into better shape. We just started last week working out in the morning together. I use the treadmil and he does the 90px workout. Im not a big fan of working but I know I need to be.
I also have no craft buddies and would love to have some!
I used to have a hard time falling asleep at night but now that I am getting up extra early and working out...and not having a diet coke after dinner it is easier to go to bed at a some what normal time.
I read your blog. I really love the name it cracked me up when I first found you. I also have a blog about my everyday life, some crafts, good finds, and a few good coupons. I would love for you to check it out. http://lifewiththegrovers.blogspot.com
Hi, I'm a lurker :) I started reading your blog a little while ago while I was searching for some good blogs about sewing. I'm not so much a crafter, but recently discovered my love of sewing, so I'm always looking for great tutorials on things of that nature. I do feel like I'm sort of in your same position regarding not having any friends who have the same interests as me (Seeing as I'm 22, graduated from college early, am living long distance from my fiance, and have virtually NO friends who are in the same/a similar place in life. Anyway, feel free to check out my blog, courtneyhelman.wordpress.com and there are a couple of my own sewing project if you scour through far enough!!
Cheers!
I started running in September doing a similar program to the couch to 5k thing. It is still hard for me to run, but I am running a 5K with my mom and sisters in Feb, so that is keeping me going. Hopefully I keep it up after that!
I have been lurking on your blog for a couple months now. My name is Megan and I have a 4 year old daughter and 2 year old twin boys. We live in Alberta, Canada. You can check out my blog, but it's not updated super often.....and not too exciting.....
I do stalk your blog too! And I own a KIRBY...I know expensive, but I have never regretted it! And I would love you to visit my sisters and my blog
http://www.gorgfabgoodies.blogspot.com
Bon
Sorry, I can't help you out with boxtops, but I can give you some friendly workout advice: GET A RUNNING BUDDY!! I actually despise running but last year my friend Kelly and I just started running. Hard to explain how or why it happened, but we went for a walk one day, ran a little, and decided to do it the next day. We did a few 5k races last year, and will be moving up to 10k's this year. Now, don't get me wrong, I haven't run in about a month. (Darn holidays!) Yea, I know, they are over and I have no excuse now. :)
Ok, so craft club. I think that's such a fun idea! I'm in the same boat because my friends aren't really in to it. Where do you live? Ha, I'm on the east coast so I bet that won't work. Skype craft club? Lol, ok that might be going too far.
This is too funny, because I am such a night person/insomniac. It is rare that I go to bed before 2. For example, I made a pretty new wreath for my front door last night at about midnight. :)
Last but not least, I'm Katie, I live outside of Washington DC, and I'm just starting to embrace my inner craft/cooking/baking/sewing goddess. Or as some like to call me: Marthette. I'm thinking about starting a blog, but I need some help/insight/advice. Care to help a sister out?
Happy Monday!
Hi! I'm a lurker coming out of hiding.
#1 If it wasn't for the fact that my box tops go to my 7 year old's class, I'd help you out.
#2 I can't help you out with the vacuum. I still use a cheap one. Works great for me for now.
#3 I wish I liked to run too. Heck, I just wish I liked to exercise period. I keep telling myself to do it, but I just haven't started yet. It would cut into my alone time, and I would much rather be crafting then.
#4 I am right with you. I moved back to the town I grew up in almost a year ago, and still haven't made any friends. It's kind of hard when you're stuck at home.
#5 My only alone time is after 9:30 pm, once all the kids are in bed and have quit coming out or waking up. So I tend to stay up late. But my kids like to get up at 7...uggg. Not fun for a night owl.
#6 Like I said, I'm a lurker coming out of hiding. My name is Hallie. I live in UT in the town I grew up in. I have a husband who travels tons for work, and 3 beautiful boys. 7 (almost 8 he'll tell you), 2 and 1. I don't get out of the house much because of the youngest 2. I have a blog, but I don't post as often as I would like and it's just day to day life (although I'm starting to throw in a few of the crafts that I'm working on). So, although it's not exciting or full of inspiring ideas, you are still welcome to read it.
Wow, did you make it through that? lol Got a little long winded there.
I have a few running tips for you! First of all, I was NOT a runner either. At all. When we moved up to washington, all 3 of my cute SIL's were marathon runners so I knew I would have to start eventually. To get started you want to run in intervals. Bring a stop watch and run 30 seconds, then walk 2 minutes. Every few days run 10 seconds longer and walk 10 seconds less. In just a few weeks, you will have the urge to run while you walk...it's fantastic! OOH, and interval training is best for burning fat, so it's a win win!!
Make sure that you have really good running shoes. Like, it's worth the 90 dollar splurge to get a decent pair...that pair of addidas from highschool won't do :)
oh, and I totally know what you mean about late night crafting...when I have a show coming up, I NEVER go to bed before 3 AM...then I want to KILL myself when 7 rolls around and the kiddos want breakfast!
Love the blog, it's one of my faves!
Hey Erika! I love your blog! You have such great ideas, and it so fun to 'shop around' here, that's when I have time on my hands and I just browse through a bunch of different posts and fun ideas.
I wish I could help you on the vacuum, but ours sucks. (No pun intended.haha!)
I don't like to run myself, but I love doing fun video workouts. I have a series of Yoga Booty Ballet videos. Actually I have way too many, so if you're interested I'll totally send you one!
You could start a little book club posting her on your blog. I'd be in for some fun novels!
BTW, I'm Crystal. If you'd like to you can check out my blog (bloggingbycrystal.blogspot.com), I love visitors! Since May '08 I've become a wife an a new mother. I have one little girl (4 mo old), and she's a doll! Anyway, that's me...one of the many girls reading your lovely blog. Keep up the good work! (ps-sorry for the novel comment)
I'm hopelessly a lurker I'm afraid. But here I am, all out in the open. If I lived near you, I would join your club. I'm pretty lucky that my friends indulge me well and enjoy the crafts that I make them do with me. And as for vacuums I have a Dirt Devil that I got at Wal-mart and I really like it. It does a pretty good job. If you want to spend ooodlles of money you could get a Rainbow Vacuum and they are really really good. My parents have one, but I'm talking oooodddlles of money. But they make your carpets last longer.
#1 - I have box tops that I can sent you! My DD is only 1 and I was just thinking the other day, "what in the world am I going to do with these box tops?"
#2- I also have a Dyson. I bought mine for $150. Its refurbished. Works like a charm. My only qualm with it is, if your like me and have pet hair, you have to dump the canister often. I'd buy it again.
#3- I want to "learn" how to run too. I even asked DH to buy me some running shoes for Christams (which he did) and I love them. But I live in UT and don't go to a gym so my "training" has been put on hold until the snow clears up. I found a great article called "couch to 5k". Its a training routine to get ANYONE in shape for a 5k in 3 months.
#4- I'm with ya on that. I'm currently my own club...
#5- I'm in bed by 11. I can't help there.
#6- I love your blog! I'm Amanda, 25, Clearfield UT. I love to keep my hands busy with crafts! I just finished 2 Valentines wreaths. I have a 1-yr-old daughter who is the love of my life. And I've been married to my soul mate for almost 7 years. I've started a little blog project
bluesatinsashproject.blogspot.com
I'm going to complete 50 crafts in 2010 (inspired by "Julie & Julia").
Keep bloggin'!
#1 - I've been saving those things for my nephew's class. I agree, its a GREAT program. My kids - 2 little boys, one 25 months and one 10 months - are in preschool. I looked it up, box tops isn't for preschool. That kinda stinks. :P
#2 - I also have a Dyson. The Pet Vac to be exact. I LOVE it. We have a St. Bernard who sheds like a madman and it handles his hair like a champ!
#3 - I started running (slowly jogging, whatever!) in September. I signed up for a 5k with some friends and did the couch to 5k program. I used the app on my iPhone which was really cool. I HATE HATE HATE running, but I do it! I even signed up for a 15k - yup, that's right, I said 15k - which is in March in Jacksonville, FL. Anyway, I suggest finding a race that is about 2 or 3 months a way, signing up for it, and doing the couch program. Then just get out there and RUN (well, jog slowly...haha.) Its good to have that pressure of the race in the back of your mind all the time.
#4 - I just started a book club with some friends. All these people said they were going to come and then only 5 showed up. At first I was totally bummed, but we ended up having a great time. Just do it and see what happens. You know what, if it doesn't work out, we can video chat you in to our book club... Start reading "The Help" just in case :)
#5 - Man, I hit the pillow and am OUT. So, can't offer anything about this one.
#6 - I'm here, too. I just started reading your blog a couple of days ago. LOVE the title! I live in South Florida, have 2 kids, 1 super hubby, and I'm currently studying for the FL Bar... well, not really studying b/c I'm reading your blog...shhhhh ;) I have no blog, but am seriously thinking of starting one after the Bar.
I read you. I just now signed up as a follower. I just have a blog about my family I get around to crafts but don't always post them but I would love to craft more, it's fun to get ideas from you.
Hi! My name is Ashley. I love to craft & design! I am currently a college student and will be graduating in May!! woohoo! I have been with my boyfriend for almost 10 years, we were high school sweet hearts! I am so thankful to have him in my life! My goal in life is to be the best wife and mother I can be, when those opportunities arrise :) I'm just a plain southern girl who loves to wear pearls with my Rainbows! I just recently found your blog and love it!! My friend and I just recently discovered Mod Podge and when searching around for cute craft ideas, I found your blog! Btw... LOVE the name!! :) I almost put it as my facebook status! :)
I am trying to get back into exercising because I know summer will be here before you know it and only being 5" tall means any extra lbs. show up!! Sometimes I just cant motivate myself to run or workout even though I know I need to... It's one of those things that when you get in the habbit of doing it, it becomes easier, but until then... phew! It's a struggle!
My only other crafter friend is my boyfriends sister. We love to craft, and recently started our own blog at www.scdoodles.wordpress.com. We make random things. We have so many ideas, we just cant make them fast enough! lol
Keep up the great Blog! I love it!!! :)
#1: I save box tops, but I already have a place I donate them. Sorry :(
#2: We just bought a vacuum (Read about our purchase here: http://stefibeth.blogspot.com/2009/12/how-i-know-new-vacuum-was-good.html) and it's quite possibly one of the best investments I've ever made. I 100% recommend the Bissell Healthy Home. I *think* MSRP is like $225 or $250, but we got ours on sale, and I know that BB&B carries them so you could use a 20% off coupon if you go this route!
#3: I wish exercising was my favorite thing in the world too. It is not so I know exactly what you're talking about. I have nothing else to add on this one. Unfortunately, eating is much more fun to me ::shrug::
#4: I want a club too! I need to have more RL friends who share my interest to have a club though :( So that would have to be added to my list.
#5: Sleep is the Devil right now. I should mention I'm 35 weeks pregnant.
#6: ::raises hand:: I read your blog and enjoy it quite a bit. I have a blog that's pretty boring, but you're welcome to read it if you like :D
I'm here! Love your blog and all your lovely ideas. If we were in the same area then I would love to be in one of those groups with you.
Come see me anytime!
www.perfectlyimperfectjenn.blogspot.com
I love Bloom. I found your great site through one of your featured Bloomers, Abbie W.
Keep up the great work! Even if it keeps you up til 2 am.... :)
Thanks Erika! The link to my class blog isn't set though.
I'll run with you! (Ya right...hahahahahhaha)
Love you.
LOL I could have written this post yesterday! I was looking at meetup.com for crafty groups in my area and all I kept finding were joggers. Its too cold for that nonsense!
I love my roomba :)
Hi! I read your blog every time you update it and I love it! So thanks for the inspriration! I have a blog here: danandhaleyhill.blogspot.com. We just bought our first home so I'm slowly trying to decorate it!
For a vacuum, I recommend the Eureka Boss Smartvac Ultra Hepa Upright Vacuum. We bought it after our cheap-o one died and it's great! It's only $134 at Walmart and I did a lot of research and it was the best for the price. I love it and all the reviews I've read are also great!
I just started running again to train for a big race here in Utah in the summer. I'm taking it really slow and just running for 6 minutes, walking for 2, then upping that every week. I still don't like running, but it's good to have a goal and a schedule set up!
Hello from Germany. I read your blog. I always wonder who stumbles on my blog also. I am in the process of starting a new blog, about my craft inspirations and other thing related to crafting/frugalness/thrift store finds. I feel you on the need to find a club. I am a military wife, living overseas so i dont have a lot of options. I think that since I have lived here in Germany for almost 8 years I am so used to being alone. My kids and husband are awesome, but sometimes I would just love a friend to craft with.
I love to read blogs, and find inspiration. It kinda started overnight. It was one blog at a time, now I am up to about 20-30 and I am always looking for more. Which made me start my own, my first one is all about our family and our travels and such, mainly for our family back home. I am not sure if anyone reads it, I think it is a great journal of our trips and such if anything :)
Thanks for all your inspiration you have given to me :) I enjoy reading your blog ;)
#1. I'll keep my eye out next time I buy cereal.
#3. I hate running. Like a lot.
#4. I use GoodReads.com as a sort of online book club... ADD ME: http://www.goodreads.com/user/show/3051050
#5. I have trouble falling asleep prior to 2am also.
#6. I blog!

ps. Please make a button so I can put it on my blog!
I have your blog marked in my google reader and I love seeing everything that you come up with....such a fun blog.
So I watch Julia and Julie last night, cute. But I realized I am one of "those" people that never comment. I just have you on my google reader. I print things off to try all the time. I get excited to see your blog up. You have many brilliant ideas. I'm a total fan. But I don't blog it. I have a family blog. I am just getting caught up... just finished August this morning. I am in Las Vegas, NV. And no I don't live on the strip. Life is pretty normal around here! I would love to start a craft blog .... so we'll see... I'll let you know. ps- you are so much fun. Wish we were close and could be buddies.
My thoughts in response to your thoughts:
When I go running, it really helps (especially when I'm somewhere I've never run before... familiarity helps my body be comfortable with the exercise, for some reason) to distract myself. Books on CD are great, and if you're at a gym with TVs, watching TV or movies is really useful. I get caught up in the story and don't even realize when it's been 20 or 30 minutes.
I agree on the wish for a club. As many have before me. :)
I wish I could be a night owl again. This whole Having a Full-time Job thing really interferes with all the staying up late I used to do. And all the sleeping in I used to do.
I'm a chronic lurker. My crafting/sewing/domesticity is a recent development (thanks to a sewing machine for Christmas!), so it's only in the past couple weeks that I've been looking at craft blogs. I follow several (*coughmillioncough*) on Google reader, and maybe someday mine will be as developed as others I've seen. If you'd like to look at my craft/homemaking blog, the address is domesticembryo.blogspot.com.
Hi! I am Camille and I am a SAHM of 2 girls and I am definitely a lurker. I live in Idaho, or else I would totally love to start some type of club with you! I have no real friends either! (it's almost inevitable as a mom)
I do have a craft blog, but it's just getting started, but I've been doing a ton on my new sewing machine, and I also love to cook! Feel free to check it out!
allaboutmommies.blogspot.com
I love your blog btw. I did the modge podge shoes, they are posted on my blog, but they are Super uncomfortable!
Hi! I just started reading before Christmas. Which seems like a million years ago now. Time flies I tell you.
I read because I love the idea of crafts. I try to do some crafting now and again but most of my time is spent raising/chasing/feeding/playing with my toddler, Gracie.
I started a blog before she was born and try to keep it updated as often as possible. It seems to be more difficult now that she is toddling all over the place.
Anyway, I hope you get some sleep tonight.
Thanks for all the interesting content you produce. It's always fun to read.
http://onlygracieknows.blogspot.com/
im totally with you on thought #4. i need to start meeting more people who craft/sew. none of my friends do it that are local. my best best sewing buddy lives 260 miles away. I am also a night owl, but i do get up early too. i work full time so i try and find crafting time at night. oh, and i read your blog :)
I can't help with all 6. But as for working out, I don't run- can't stand it. However, I do take a hip hop dance class which is the best hour of my week. Since I had to sign up for it, I always feel obligated to go. (And I can bust out moves to New Edition!) On other days, I use my Wii fit and the gym. I'm always looking for friends who craft, but can't seem to find many. Thank goodness for the blog-hood. I have a blog, and I'm a follower of your blog!
1. My oldest Son's class won a party for the most box tops for the Fall, I love Box Tops, and I am very competitive....we ate a lot of fruit snacks in late 2009....
2. I hate my Dyson. It is my second one, they DO lose suction. I hate that it doesn't get up the stuff along the wall, and I am a smart woman, but sometimes have to ask my husband how to use the attachments. Hate it...Just my opinion...
3. Start out walking 2 miles, then every once in a while jog a bit. You will be amazed...you will be a runner in no time.
4. I wish we had a craft club, too, I also don't have any crafty friends that have time to craft...
5. I go to sleep at 10.
6. I am Sally, Wife to 1, Mom to 3, and here's my blog. Kind of boring, but that's my simple and at the same time perfect life! I love your blog.....so much!
http://www.thetexashoaglands.blogspot.com/
hey, I read your blog - i love in new zealand - i came across it through another craft blog site - i love all yor little projects i love to do little projects but can never find enough time! stop by and read my blog sometime
Hi! I found your blog recently and love the ideas. I'm a stay at home mom of 2 little boys. I live in Arizona. My blog is not interesting to those who aren't close relatives :) Mostly just family memory stuff. I'd love to start a craft blog though. Maybe when my baby is a little older.
3. I wish I liked to run, too. I think if I ever got to a point where I didn't feel like I was going to die after running more than 1 minute, I think it would be fun & relaxing.
4. I wish you lived near me, cause I would be your friend for sure. I try to just teach my friends to be crafty. They're like "hey, you wanna hang out Thursday?" and I'm like "yeah, come over and we'll make wreaths!" :)
5. Amen. I think I get it from my Grandmother. I just wish I needed less sleep. I do my best crafting at night!
6. I have a blog. If you click my name, you can get there!
I'm one of those lurker types as well, but I figured since so many others are coming out of the woodwork (I almost said closet!) I might as well join 'em!
#1: I used to collect those forever ago, but nothing ever became of them so my husband tossed them out. If you'd really like, I can save them again...but it also looks like you have some offers.
#2 I have been lusting after a Dyson. But, alas, I am in the same boat as you and need a new vacuum. If you do find a good deal, you should share!
#3 Once we get our tax refund I am buying the whole running get up (shoes, sports bra, socks that don't make your feet smell!) and starting the couch to 5K. I think it is an excellent guide to not overexert yourself. In fact, I just made a rather revealing blog post about starting up.
#4 I think SO many of us moms can relate..which is why we turn to the internet. If only so many of us lived closer. I know I have made some good online friends over the years, but it's just not the same.
#5 Again, I am the same way lately. It's not really an insomnia issue, it's more like it is my only time for myself. I think I just go a little overboard on how late I stay up to do the things I enjoy doing.
#6 You have at least 677 followers (on Google Connect). I'd say you'd be brave to try to get to know everyone. But hey, I am one of them and I have been following your blog for a few months now. I just started my own little blog not too long ago that you are more than welcome to visit.
http://aprilmayaugust.blogspot.com
Erika,
I send my box tops with my kids to school, sorry :(
I LOVE my Dyson, I got it at Costco, but I can't remember what I paid, it was around $400 though. I know you can get other models for cheaper on sale.
I HATE exercise in any form, but my sister just makes herself go to the gym. She says she gets a great endorphin high from running.
I just started a book club in August. I moved here a year and a half ago and have like 2 friends. So I thought maybe they could bring there friends, so far, the most we have had is 5 of us. How about an online book club? We could have an online discussion of some sort (let me know, I'd love to join).
I don't sleep early either. I work nights, so my body clock is all screwed up. Somtimes, I hate to say it, but Ambien is my friend.
I read your blog. I got behind for a while over the holidays. I blog with my sister (thus the 2sisters log in). Our blog is acraftyclan.blogspot.com. We'd love is if you'd pop on over!
I love your blog and I am a runner. Google Hal Higdon's beginner training program. This is a great schedule and completely do-able. The key to becoming a runner is consistency. oh my blog is cadeandlaura.blogspot.com
#3 As for running.... I've been trying to find inspiration too. I don't know how people do it!
#4 I'm in a craft group at my church and I LOVE it. It's a random group of women who I wouldn't have necessarily been friends with otherwise, but now I can't miss it - it's the highlight of my week. And they have become some of my best friends. So maybe you'll be able to get together a group of some kind and they'll become your friends? I totally have struggled with friendships & clubs/groups I want to be in. It's been a long time in coming.
#5 I'm a total night person too. It is hard though since my hubby & kids are early risers!! ugh.
#6 I guess I'm a lurker who should come out of hiding. :) Feel free to check out my blog... bethethread.blogspot.com (you asked!) It's a bunch of random thoughts on kid-filled days trying to sew, craft, bake and be a good mom.
I read your blog :) I love to craft, but suck at it terribly, so mainly I bookmark ideas and either never do them or do them and they suck! lol.
But I love to read craft blogs all the same :)
I like this post. Can't help ya with the box tops, vacuum nor the excercise. As for the clubs...it's a tough one. It took me 20 years and a move to Italy to find my crafty pals. Or rather, crafty pals who had enough time to craft. Keep looking, it's worth it.
Hello! I'm Franny and I love reading your blog and love that you wrote out your thoughts. I'm a new mom and spend my "free" time knitting, sewing, and trying my hand at other fun crafty things. I've started a blog to post our adventures: http://sleepylittledragon.blogspot.com/.
I'm not much help on the vacuum or running, but I definitely recommend the club! I would be more than willing to bet that other people are hoping someone will start a fun group and that could be you! I love my knitting groups as well as my play group - the women have been such livesavers!
Good luck and keep up the wonderful craftiness!
#1 Good luck with the box tops. I try to send them to my son's school...if I remember to cut them out before chunking it in the trash!
#2 No vacuum suggestions... in fact we may be in the market for one soon ourselves. YUCK! I hate the thought of spending money on something that I'll despise using.
#3 I've been wanting to try the couch to 5K too. I have a friend that did great with the program.
#4 I never put much thought into a "club".... I think I should think about that. But my husband would probably kill me if I pick up another project!
#5 Sometimes I wish I had that problem. I seem to be in bed shortly after the kiddos then up at the crack of dawn.
#6 Doesn't lurking drive you nuts!? I have a blog about our CRAZY family with antics about falling through ceilings and boats running into the house and my son that looks like O P Taylor and our prissy little girl with a few recipes thrown in the mix. You just never know what I'll be posting about! Much to my husband's dismay! Come on by and stay a while! www.jaybirdandberly.blogspot.com
dyson!!
they're pricey, but COMPLETELY worth it. once a year at Kohl's (in the spring maybe?) they run a sale on them, and I want to say it's at least 25% off. doesn't sound like much, but these things never go on sale, really. (but don't quote me on that!) watch your ads or their website--i'm sure they'll run something about it!
also, i am also a night person and a non-runner. how do these morning runner people live?? ;)
I love your blog...very funny. And my Dad is my hook-up for vacumms as he repairs them so I get a decent one for no cost...so I am no help. I can fall asleep before 2am, but I am awakened by 2am because I have almost 3 year old twins who are terrible sleepers. And I am not a runner, never gonna be one either. :0 I do have a blog but it is kinda boring... http://lifeofcarey.blogspot.com/
but your's is funny and very crafty...so I read yours. Happy Tuesday!
We just bought a dyson. It's the most powerful model and works great for pet hair. We have a severe shedder. Labs will do that. Anyways we LOVE it. We got if for $280, which was shipping, and everything. When you have a pet though it is really good to invest in a good vac, especially if you have a crawling kid, which I do. We got it through totalvac.com.
I just started running. I was inspired by a lot of friends and family who run marathons etc. so I decided to try. I actually do enjoy it. I just have to make a goal and do it. The nice thing about races is you have to pay for them, so then you are more likely to run it. It get's easier. I promise. You just have to stick to it. I may take a couple of 3 months to run a full 5K, but you can do it!
I live in Lehi and would love to be part a club like that. Maybe you should start a book club blog? I think that would be fun.
I am NOT a night person. I am usually into bed by 10ish and up by around 7. Been that way since I was a kid.
I READ YOU BLOG! It's been about 2 weeks since I because an avid reader of yours. My families blog is nicoleandsethgreer.blogspot.com. Check us out.
I'm a lurker. A lot of your thoughts sound like my thoughts, aside from the box tops. I don't think I have ever noticed them but I will start looking for them now!
My name is Charlene and I love your blog and your ideas! I check in from time to time to see what is new in the crafting world...I love crafting myself and am always looking for new ideas, or something to give me an idea. I am not a runner either and had no idea how runners do it!
You can check out my blog...www.thesperryblog.blogspot.com....it's mostly about me and my hubby, but I always put my crafts on there too! :)
Charlene :)
PS I have yet to find a vacuum I like! :)
i LOVE reading your blog! I'd join your craft/book/cooking club. isn't that kind of what the blog world is? having people in person though sure does make a difference. at least through the blogs we can feel more connected and get to know people that way too. Come visit me any time! :)
Erin at http://frostedsquare.blogspot.com/
PS-i've got a box top or 2 I can share
I'm with ya on #3. We have a local 5K fun run every May and I always want to join, but um, I can't run that far! I'll have to check out couch to 5k.
Thought #4: Check out meet-up.com - As a military wife, we move quite often and I find it difficult to make friends who share common interests. That's where meet-up comes in. You can search for things you like to do and there are folks near you who get together to do them. If there isn't a group you want, you can organize one.
Thought #6: I'm a 28 yr old crafter who hates her day job, is scared to have kids before visiting at least 3 more countries and read about a dozen craft blogs daily. I also read about a dozen hard science blogs daily. Odd interests. No blog of my own. Thanks for sharing what you do. Your post about your mom's b-day present to you almost made me cry because my mom sucks and gives only gifts she herself would like. I hate her.
I like my dyson animal. it was more expensive but we used gift cards from our wedding and a 20% off coupon from Bed Bath and Beyond.
I'm so not a morning person, unlike my husband Mr. Black Sneakers, much to my dismay.
here's my blog. http://mypinkflipflops.com
Totally do couch to 5k! Read my running post! I hope it will inspire you!
http://sarahlscott.blogspot.com/2009/10/motivate-me-monday-new-creation.html
we are so on the same page, girly!
first of all, i'd love to collect boxtops for your mom's class, but my class of 3rd graders might get a little mad at me! :) we are also collecting pop tabs to donate for the Ronald McDonald House (where I volunteered from the age of 8-18), which is fun. i have a TON because i have sources all over collect them for us.
second, i am dying to start a book club! i read constantly (i've read 5 books since Christmas) and would love to be able to talk about them with someone! in all my spare time...that's my life motto.
third, my crafting (mine is more of a re-hab of thrift items into household decor as opposed to actual crafting) has fallen by the wayside since the school year started, and it makes my heart sad. :( see? however, i made a 3 hour trip to Goodwill last week and have loads of supplies to get to work on...in all my spare time! HA!
love your blog and your cute ideas...check mine out in all your spare time! :)
Thought #1- I would love to help you out with boxtops, but I'm a teacher and my 5th graders would NOT be happy with me! Sorry!
Thought #2: When you find a good vacuum, please let me know. I took my last one back to the store and told them I was returning it because it DIDN'T suck!!
Thought #3: Exercise has never been my friend and I'm too embarrassed at how out of shape I am to look too hard for a buddy. I need to get over that though - something has to give!!
Thought #4: I bet there are lots of people you know who feel the same way. You won't know unless you try to start one. Even if you start with a small group of three, it would be a rewarding experience! Give it a shot!
Thought #5: I can't relate to this. I'll go to bed at a decent hour, but then I'm WIDE awake at 3:00am. Unfortunately, I don't use this time to be crafty, but I do a MAJOR part of my house cleaning then! I like having the rest of the day free.
Thought #6: I've been lurking on your blog for about two months and I love it! You inspire me! I'm not very crafty, but I long to be. I'm not a mom, but I have 38 kids between the hours of 8:00 and 3:00 each day. I really started getting into blogs and what they CAN be during the Thanksgiving holidays. I am now a blog addict. I had a sporadic blog once, but have just recently started blogging again. It isn't much to look at now, but I have high hopes!! Come visit: itsurelooksbright.blogspot.com
Hi Erika
6. I read your blog! you can read mine but it's not as good as yours, even tho it's not a competition ;).
5. I have sleep issues. Unisom works well but so does established routine, ie: same wake time everyday even on weekends.
4. I don't have many mommy friends that craft but a few from church do. I also don't have much time to go out, since I am a mommy of 3.
3. That is so funny, 'cuz I just said that to someone the other day. I have ZERO endurance for running and I really admire people who say how much they love running. I always wonder why, because not only can I not breathe, but it makes me want to barf. I'm sure there's something good about it, or else people wouldn't be doing it.
2. GET THEE A DYSON!!
1. I have 3 boys and need to actually turn my box-tops in.
Thanks for sharing your blog. Have fun getting to know everyone!
-Jessica "Lady J"
I am a lurker (definitely not a stalker! :)
I am in love with your blog and that you give the crafting community
I had never ran really in my life until I just started one day with a buddy...I like it now, but I am not crazy about...
Bobbie
If I remember to cut out box tops they go to my little girl. ?Vaccuum? I used to hate running but I'm getting better at it :) My knees USED to hurt after many years of dancing and then knee surgery. I strengthened them by doing classes at the gym, elliptical, and small amounts of running. I keep wanting to do 5Ks but then I wuss out of it. I need a workout buddy in UT county. My ward does a book club but I always forget about it. My friends seem to be flakes now days so that doesn't help with the exercising or craft/book clubs :( I keep trying to be an early bird but it's hard! I'm an LDS stay-at-home mom of 2. I'm in my mid 20's. I'm not an original crafter, I'm a copy-cat crafter. I LOVE your blog. I have a boring blog that I'm trying to improve. I bet your mom knows my mom-in-law (she's a school nurse).
Lurker, here. =-) I'm also a craft-idea collector - love seeing all of the amazing, creative craft ideas and hope to someday have time to do them! Please blog some of the ideas people give you about running! I hate it! I've always joked that the only way I'm running is if someone is chasing me w/a weapon, or if there is pie at the finish line. I have NO idea how I'd go from couch to running even 2 blocks! (but I'd really like to learn!)
Hi. I've had your blog on my feeder for sometime now and enjoy reading your posts.
I too am a night owl. I wish that I was more of a morning person, would love to start the day off a bit more cheerful.
Would love to be in your club...whatever club you decide on.
I have a Dyson vacuum and I LOVE it. I don't remember how much I spent on it, but like any self-respecting girl, I remember that I got a great deal. I purchased my Dyson at B,B&Beyond at a discount (the box was damaged) and used a 20 percent off coupon.
1. I've been meaning collect those little buggers...I always start to and then forget. Thanks for the reminder!
2. My vacuum was a hand me down...I probably could use a new one...just don't get a Kirby! Read me post here: http://forwhatitsworth-ornot.blogspot.com/2009/08/were-just-taking-survey.html
3. I hate running. sorry no mo-to-vation here ;]
4. I joined the "Slow Readers book Club" CHeck it out: http://forwhatitsworth-ornot.blogspot.com/2010/01/slow-readers-book-club.html
5. You don't want to hear my answer to this one....I work night shift and don't get much sleep during the day)
6. I think I plugged my blog enough already.....Nice "talking AT" you today :) Look forward to seeing you over at my place (blog)
LOL! You're funny! This is my first visit here. A friend thought your blog title was funny and passed it on. I'll bookmark ya! Cute stuff!
My blog is www.themightymomblog.com/wordpress if you want to stop by.
Lesli
1. I save box tops for my mother-in-laws school but would love to send you the few I have collected. I like sharing the wealth I guess you can say!
2. Not sure about a good vaccumm I have all wood floors so I use my swiffer sweeper then follow up my shark steam mop.
3. I can't seem to find motivation to work out either. However, I just bought the Biggest Loser game for my Wii & plan to start that soon.
4. I created my blog to allow my family that lives away to keep updated with progress my husband and I are doing w/house renovations. I feel like no one even reads it but it's makes me happy to see all our progress.
5. Have you thought about a sound machine. They are great and calming a person creating a comfortable enrivonment. Plus we make sure we don't allow our cpu's in our bedroom so once we go in there we know it's relaxation time.
6. I read your blog everyday! I think you do a great job and I love your ideas. Maybe once I find my house I can actually get to decorating and crafting things.
I'm a lurker. And usually I don't post comments, but...
I love books and would highly recommend a book club. You could just get random people together -- it's a great way to meet friends. Is that possible? I don't know. I just love mine and don't know what I'd do without those awesome women in my life.
Anyway, I blog about books...if you just want to read about someone else's book adventures, here I am:
aroundtheworldin80books.wordpress.com
You do great work. I'm impressed with your craftiness!
Hi there! I'm Ginnie and I love your blog! I'm with you on #3, I know so many people who like to run and I just can't make myself like it(I've tried!). I too need some more friends to just do things with(too bad you're not in Oklahoma City!) And I am SUCH a night owl, I love to craft. Check out my blog!
Blessings!
Hi Erika! It's Elizabeth. I'm catching up on your blog tonight while I find myself unable to sleep. :)
I've thought about how fun it would be to start a craft club too... and then I become saddened when I realize that, while some of my friends enjoy the occasional craft project, no one is as enthusiastic about it as I am enough to start a club for it. Maybe I need to move to Utah. haha
Hi there! I am loving your blog!! I have a suggestion about the vacuum issue (If you are still looking!) We bought a Kirby...I know you don't want to spend much. We bought ours on ebay. It was several years old but had been completely refurbished. My mom bought a Kirby when I was in 3rd grade...I am about to be 30 and it is still running strong with no issues. So back to mine, my husband would probably have left me if I would have said...hey honey let's go ahead and spend $2000 for a vacuum. Like I said, it was ebay and we spent $200 with the shipping and all since that was our cutoff as well. I hope this helps you!! And keep blogging I am loving this!!
#2- I have a Dyson and love it but also had a Shark (Navigator I think) and loved it. The Shark is MUCH less expensive and works about as well!
#3- I also wish that I was more motivated about running, jogging, or even walking!! We live behind a school that has a great track and it is about 50 feet from my back door but have I ever used it... no!
#5- I have the opposite problem!! If my daughter wakes me up at 4am I am up for the day!! Oh how I dream about the days (pre-pregnancy, pre-baby) when I could sleep!!
#6- I about "craft my pants" (well about peed them) when I found your blog a few days ago! It made me laugh out loud! I stumbled upon it while blog hopping! Love it!!!!
I don't have a kid so I haven't been collecting box tops, but I can start :)
I've always wondered the same thing about runners. They always have amazing legs but I just can't get myself to do it. Maybe somebody should start a running buddy blog?
Ooo La La! I just found you and wow! what a blog...you just keep on like this and you'll have a million stalkers hanging onto your every word..lol!! I LOVE your blog!! Thanks for being here..
hugz
Pam
Hello! I actually just discovered your blog today. You have already given me the desire to hodgepodge something. I am a "runner" (3 marathons) but still wouldn't say I love running. I would suggest you sign up for a race, maybe a 5K and then maybe 5 miles. It's good motivation. Good luck! My book club just finished reading The Help - so good. In case you don't find a book club you can always "join" mine. My blog is www.suz-leo.blogspot.com =)
My 4 Thoughts:
1. I've only just discovered your blog recently and I rather love it.
2. Sometimes Amazon has AMAZING deals on vacuums (I keep eyeing the Roomba - vacuums FOR you and all my friends who have them love it). Free shipping!
3. About thought #4... I think that's why I read so many blogs (including yours). I don't have too many real-life friends who are interested in the same things I am. I have great friends, fun friends, but we don't have too much deeper than a shop date in common. I'm praying for more of those. Would you consider starting a virtual online book/film/sewing/whathaveyou club? We can all be online friends!
4. Since you asked, I do have a little blog. It's about Southern life and all the good little things that come along with it. www.sweeticedtea.net
Hope you can come have a visit!
Hi, I'm a new follower. I love your blog and I'm just dying to try some of your awesome projects.
I have a custom drapery workroom and I blog about stuff I make. You are welcome to stop by anytime !
Post a Comment
Thanks so much for stopping by! I love to hear from my readers, so feel free to leave a comment and spread a little love.
