The Advent Calendar:
This was a headache, but I love how it turned out. It took way too long and shows that I truly am a beginner (don’t look too closely - you can see dried gorilla glue oozing out from behind the boxes - I tried to paint over it, but it looks a little icky). It was tricky to find a way to get the boxes to stay on the painted canvas. Gorilla glue worked great, I just should have read the directions first - it’s toxic and oozes. Lesson learned. My kids have loved opening a little box everyday for some candy or prize. Advent calendars are the best!

The vintage (buzz word) inspired yarn trees:
Okay, these make me laugh so hard. I saw this, did a few images searches, and got an idea of what I wanted to do. When they were finished, I was laughing so hard. I don’t know, I guess they’re fun for the kids to play with. And if I say they’re vintage inspired, then maybe that makes them look a little better, like I’m hip or something. But, let’s be honest, they’re a little goofy.
The boring wreath:
It’s just boring. I had to cut a lot off our tree to make it fit on the table, so I used the extra greenage to make the wreath. Maybe I’ll try to fix it/add to it next year. This was the last project and I think I was getting a little burnt out. Oh well. It’s something to put on our bookcase.
You can see the whole thing put together here in our apartment. I don’t leave all our Christmas decorations in our window - it’s just the best place in our apartment to get a picture with my old point-n-shoot.

Those are great!! Gorilla Glue makes a super glue that works just as well, but it doesn't ooze. Its just super duper strength super glue.
How much would did it cost you to make your little advent calendar with the boxes?

fashionable librarian, it was about 20 bucks, which is more than I wanted to spend, but I lost my coupon on the subway. ugh. I know I could have bought premade one for about the same price, but ya know, it's fun to see something I made.

The advent calendar is awesome! And trying something new is always fun... you should see my stack of tried and hated it pile.
I think your wreath is great, you could even just add a big gold bow at the bottom if you want!

Great projects! I might give that advent calendar a whirl next year...I love the fact that it can be used year after year, and if you have more than one child you can probably fit a small something for each of them in a box.
