So, I tried to make my own blog layout. It worked, for the most part...Until my mom told me she couldn't see the whole layout. In fact, she had to scroll to see the whole thing. Um, talk about annoying.
That's not going to fly around here, huh?
So...I have a few questions for y'all. Can you see my entire layout? Do you have to scroll at all? Any tips on how to make my layout a size that EVERYONE can see, but still allow me to post larger pictures in the posts, and have a two columned sidebar layout? Or, am I just trying to have my cake and eat it too?
Bahhh.
This is how I see my blog.
And this is how a few others see it.
Which way does it look for you?
Thanks for helping out an awful blogger.

i'm on a mac, using google chrome, and it looks right (like the first one) to me.
Looks like the first one to me.
It looks alright to me! I had the same issue with mine though. And I use blogher neckwork and the lovely computer tech people out there are the ones that noticed my oops and helped me out. So keep your html width around 900 if you want everyone to see it without having to scroll. That's is the secret! Good luck, I'm no professional blog template layout person either!
I'm on Windows using Google Chrome and it looks like the second one.
Also - just noticed that your message about posting comments says "Thanks SO stopping by." Thought you'd like to know so you can fix that. =)
Thanks for all the inspiring ideas! I love crafting my pants!
You gals are the best. I guess I'm just going to have to go back to the drawing board...After I cry, of course.
Sarah...Thanks SO MUCH FOR catching that. You're a gem. That things been up at least a year, and no one has ever told me about it. Talk about embarrassing.
I'm on a Mac and have viewed it in Safari and now Firefox and no problems at all. Looks like the first pic.
I'm on Windows using IE and it's perfect for me.
Looks great here.
It all depends on screen size, browser type, etc. My home computer will show sites fine, and my work one I have to scroll about an inch to the left.
I think you did a great job!
no scrolling on mine
I'm on an iMac with Safari and can only see a little of the top margin and have to scroll a little sideways see the whole thing. But that's easy enough. Borders, margins, etc. are just "fluff". It's the content that enticed me to look. Alene
I can see the whole thing. I think it's cute! I do have a huge screen though. I also have a mini computer and I am sure i wouldn't be able to see the whole thing on that.

I see the second screen, but I'm pretty sure that's cuz I have a smaller screen, I don't think it has anything to do with your layout? I could be totally wrong ;P
I'm using Firefox on a 19" monitor and I see the second image.
Windows 7, Firefox... everything looks great on my end.
I'm on Windows using Google Chrome and it's fine, but my resolution is fairly high. If I change my resolution to 1024x768 I'll get a too big window. Can you make the right column any narrower to leave picture room in the blog part?
I see your entire blog and it looks great!
I'm on Windows Vista using Firefox with a widescreen monitor and it looks fine (like the first pic to me. (And it's uber cute, too!)
Peace & Love,
~Barb~
Looks good to me :)
I can see the layout just fine, but the past couple of days, a lot of times all your pictures don't load. I don't know if that is the layout or my computer being dumb :)
i sadly see the second one...
and oh how cute the first one is
I have the second one. That is because my monitor can not have a high resolution. People with older monitors or poorer quality will probably do a lot of scrolling. Most web designers these days try to design for a 1068x768, which equals about 960 pixels wide. Google analytics has information on visitor screen resolutions, so you could use that as a guide for what your readers will see.
Hope that helps!

I can see all of it... and I love it. I love clean blog layouts, and yours is exactly that. Readable, appealing, clean, girly... makes me want to stay and visit. In fact, this is my first visit, and I know right away I'll be coming back again.
Yeah, I did the same thing when I was designing a webpage for a class I was teaching. I created it on a widescreen computer and the computer lab at the school had regular screens and they had to scroll and it was super frustrating! Looks really cute though! Love your blog by the way!!!
Erika, it all depends on people's screen resolutions. If you don't go higher than 950 px or so for your outer wrapper you should be just fine. I would maybe make yours down to 850 or 900 px if some people are having issues.
It looks fine to me. :)
I am on an HP and I see the first one! Looks good to me!
All I can say is "Thank you, thank you thaaaank yoooou!"
I think I finally have it all figured out, px wise...
PLEASE let me know if any of you are still having problems (ie: having to scroll or whatev.) and I will bring the pixels down a liiittle bit more.
You guys are the best readers a girl could ask for.
*wipes a tear*
Off to re-size ALL my photos. baah.
I see your blog just the way you see it in the first picture. I think it looks great. You did a wonderful job! I've been trying to figure out ways to make my blog look better as well without hiring someone else to do it for me. lol

I see the full version like the top photo!
Looks okay by me:-)
Looks perfect here. Using IE!
I see it like you do- it looks good, I really like it. First when I saw your post on SITS about 'telling you the truth', I was like, 'oh crap, I don't want to have to go to a really crappy site and lie about how nice it looks- or be mean' So I'm glad to say, that I truly like your design!
and I love the 'craft my pants!' hilarious!
Hi, visiting from the SITS girls. I think the thing you need (and that I can't find that anyone has mentioned yet) is BROWSER TESTING. Your blog will look differently on different browsers, depending on what your viewer is using. Here's a link to getting your blog tested for optimum capability: http://designm.ag/resources/browser-testing/
I adore the name of your blog. My first laugh of the day. All the best with continued design (it never ends, just a warning!)
Stopping by from Blog Frog. I'm on a Mac. I checked your site using Safari and Firefox, and it looked fine on both.
I see it like you see it....it looks great!
I can see everything and I think it looks nice! I've been working on a new design for my blog as well so I can appreciate the difficulty of the task. (I'm totally cheating and having someone help me though!!)
I see your blog the way you see it. Also, I happen to think you've got the BEST NAME EVER FOR A BLOG!!! I mean, who could resist a blog with your title?!! Just sayin'.
The first one for me.
My dad taught me this trick ( he and I are computer people ) If you are having trouble seeing the web page , or you see it as the second one try pressing
Ctrl and - (at the same time- to zoom out)
~or~
Ctrl and + (at the same time to zoom in.)
I Love your blog!
Lasgirl form lasgirl.blogspot.com
i'm on a mac & using google chrome also & it works great!.. and i love the layout!
the top one! i can see the little yellow background with the circles - it's PURDY!
I see it the first way!
I like it! It looks nice and bright =)
It looks gorgeous! Love it!!
i use fire fox and i see your blog just fine. and btw, i love it!
I see it how you do and it looks really pretty!
On my computer it looks just fine. However, on my ipod it's super skinny! The center panel with all the text and info is really skinny and the sides with the patterns are really wide. I am completely computer stupid so I hope that made sense. :)
looks good to me! But I've noticed that if I use a laptop sometimes sites look funky. Maybe it depends on each individual user's settings on their computer??
