My youngest turned two last week (I’m still in denial) and I wanted to make her day special without throwing a huge party.
I decided that we’d just invite two of her closest friends over (their parents are some of my closest friends, luckily) and eat cake-Store bought cake. I told myself I wouldn’t even feel guilty about it. In fact! I didn’t even send any invites out. I just texted my friends and asked if they wanted to come over for some cake, and I quote “don’t expect anything cute!”
Well…Then I started perusing Pinterest and found THIS cake by CoCo Cake Land…And, I knew right then I had to copy it. There aren’t any directions on her site, but it was pretty simple to just eyeball.
From there, it spiraled and I just had to make the girls some kitty ears and kitty tails for this mini kitty party.
I’m pretty proud of myself for just stopping there and not going crazy…Because I was close!
Overall, I loved the feel of a smaller party and being able to actually interact with the guests. I think small parties will be the new rule of thumb around here.
What about you? Do you go all out for parties or try to keep them simple?
