Winners- Better late than never…Right?

Umm, I totally never picked my winners for the Origami books! I feel awful. Try not to hate me, okay? I’ll try to be better at nurturing my blog!

Anyway! The winners of the Fashion Origami books by Klutz are:
Char @ Crap I’ve Made
Marilyn (the one whose son taught an origami class at recess…I’m seriously loving that)
And, last but not least,
Stephanie (comment # 1, who said she “craft her pants” with excitement. ahahh)
Sorry I don’t have screen shots. I’m at work (again)…
Thanks everyone for entering! You’re awesome.
Winners, please email me at erika(at)oopsicraftmypants(dot)net and include your mailing address so I can pass it on to the wonderful giveaway sponsor.

So, I’m throwing a bridal shower

and, I need YOUR help!

I want it to be fun, and not your average bridal shower. I live in a place where there are billions (or so it seems) bridal showers are thrown a day…I want the one I’m throwing to stand out!

Best ideas may just get featured!

Paper Shoes

Origami has never been my strong suit. Once, at work, my employer begged me to teach an origami class to a bunch of 3rd-5th graders. I believe I laughed in her face (in a nice way, of course) and told her that there was no way in heck I could teach a class like that (Don’t worry, we’re pals, her and I).

She then proceeded to try and teach me origami. Turns out, I really did suck as bad as I told her I did and she had me teach a different course instead. Thank goodness!

So anyway, last week a representative for KLUTZ Fashion Origami emailed me and asked if I would be willing to try out their new book. Of course, I said yes. I mean, how could I resist pages and pages full of, not just regular old origami, FASHION origami. We’re talking paper shoes here, people!

Once I got the book in the mail, I couldn’t wait to get started. I hurried and opened her on up and she was a beaut. The book came with loads of cute paper, glue, ribbon, and other embellishments. I was completely smitten.

Do you SEE those shoes? What about that skirt smack dab in the middle? Yum!

Want to know the best part? I was actually successful making the skirt and shirt (I was semi-successful with the shoes…Don’t judge me! I’m not coordinated!) I still need to try the others out. Frankly, I think I’ll kick butt at making the purse, I guess only time will tell.

A huge reason that I have made this huge leap with my origami abilities is because of the stinkin’ easy instructions. Take a look!

The pages are so simple to follow. I think literally anyone would be able to make at least something from this book.

Anyway! I have THREE of these books to give away, and who better to give one to than you?

Would you like to win one of the books? Perfect! Just leave a comment here.

Need some origami to hold you over ’til you win? It’s your lucky day. Here’s an awesome tutorial for you to download. http://www.klutzdesignchallenge.com/fashionorigami.pdf
It’ll walk you step by step on how to make the coat pictured above. They even provide downloadable paper.

Meet The Fiend.

So, I found my camera. It was a little disappointing because it had gotten to the point where I complained so much, that my husband told me he would buy me a Canon Rebel with our tax return.
Now that I found this sucker, I doubt that will happen. So, if you could maybe come steal my old one and sell it on the black market (or something like that), then that would make my life sooo much easier.

ANYWAY, I found my camera, which means I can finally post again (wahoo!)…

This project has been a thought in my husbands mind for a long time. He’s been nagging me to get on this project telling me they would be “so cool.” I kept putting the project off, but as luck would have it, we went to Walmart and found the perfect plaque to get started. Right then and there, I told my husband that I wasn’t buying one unless HE was doing the project with me.

After a little persuading, he agreed! What a trooper.

So, off to Rod Works we went to get some awesome knobs and hangers. Then,we hurried home and got started.

Originally, I told my husband that we were going to have a contest to see who’s turned out the best. I thought for sure I would have this competition in the bag. I mean, seriously, the guy had never even touched Mod Podge.

Well, turns out, he’s a Mod Podgin’ fiend. He completely beat me, in my opinion (just please don’t tell him I said so.)

** Snow in all pictures provided by freakin’ Mother Nature. Snow in April? Really?

Hope you had a GREAT Easter!
(Sorry I didn’t have a special Easter post. Or, even any Easter projects, for that matter!)
