Too many toys

My dog has a lot of toys. Like, too many toys.

They used to sit cutely under my corner shelf, but my dog is the worst behaved dog in the world, so he ate the basket one day while we were gone. Great.

So, we went to Ikea in search of something to hold all his toys. There were a bunch of cute things we wanted to get, but knew that we couldn't because demon dog would ruin all of those, too. Our only hope was a black garbage can.

Um...Cute? Not so much.

So, my husband suggested Mod Podging it. And Mod Podge I did.

I'm not very happy with the outcome. I'm not sure why. Maybe it's because I used glossy Mod Podge (shudder) when I'm usually a matte kinda girl. Or, maybe it's that you can see the lines where i pieced together the paper. Maybe it's even because I feel like the top should have had the white paper. Hm...

Either way, it's better than the black garbage can, and that's a good thing.

All you Mod Podgers out there, are you a glossy or a matte kind of user? I'm curious. Sometimes, I feel like I'm the only one who prefers matte. Let me know your thoughts!

I haven't used mod podge yet (don't hate, I will very soon), but I would probably prefer matte as well. Those are the kinds of pictures I prefer, so it seems likely. I like your toy bucket! I should do that too. Our beagle is slowly tearing her basket to shreds.

Casey

I like the matte kind too!

This is soooo cute. I'm going to make my daughter one for her bathroom. And when it comes to Mod Podge I don't discriminate!

That came out cute! Definitely better than the black. I tend to like the matte myself.

I think it looks 100% better. Man I have to get me some of that mod podge stuff.

I did my own crafting this weekend, come and check out all the Halloween crafts. I'm loving the Trick or Treat bags I made. LOl

I am yet to mod-podge but my preference for black spray paint (which I use A LOT of) is matte or flat. I think the toy holder is cute though :)

The Caretaker

I love matte. I have that same exact trash can in my bathroom, what a great idea. I think I'll do that for my trash can. Loving it!!!

I'm a matte girl. Glossy seems to show too many brush strokes. In my opinion that is. :-D Love the new toy basket!

fawnda

I am a matte girl too!

I think it turned out cute!

Summer Rae

I am a little of both, but mostly matte. Great idea. Thanks for sharing!

Melanie

I am totally a matte girl.

I have to be different and say glossy!I haven't done too much of it.I'm still on my first bottle.I had no idea what to get put when it comes to scrapbooking pictures I like glossy.I'll have to try matte next time.

Love all kinds of Mod Podge, doesn't matter matte or glossy or paper or outdoor. It's all good!

Miss Mustard Seed

Cute! You know what...I have never used Modge Podge. Seriously. Not once. I must try it.

Miss Mustard Seed *gasp* YOU haven't used Mod Podge? Wow! LOVE IT!!! (Mod Podge and the darling toy bucket, although I can totally relate to not having projects turn out the way you envision them). I am totally a Matte girl (don't even have a bottle of gloss, haven't had a need for it yet). I can't speak for my other half (of our blog) but that's my preference!

It's cute. Isn't it funny that our men know what decoupage is ?

Amie Christine

hot glue ribbon on the seams of the paper! :)

oh no, you are not alone - I MUCH prefer matte to glossy.

The Sperry Blog

I am all about matte! I sent my husband to pick some up for me and it was glossy, I thanked him but probally won't be using it...at least on the stuff I keep :)

Kristy

I like matte. Glossy just sometimes does not go well on some things. I am new to your blog, I am really enjoying reading what you have one here. You should go check out my blog. klanteigne.blogspot.com

kmellana

I might have you beat for the worst behaved dog.....check out my dogs at www.mommakesithappen.blogspot.com

they are in the Sept 09 category.

As for mod podge....I think it depends what kind of project I'm doing.

Bethany

Definitely matte. It does look great- you're always going to be your own worst critic.

miss~nance

I am mosst definately a Gloss mod podge girl. I have found that mattt shows the brushstrokes a lot more.I have lawys liked siny things more that flat things.

I am new to your blog found you through Mod Podge rocks and her post about your shoes. I am so dying to do some mod podge shoes. But I wasn't sure if it wold work and would be durable.

Glue some coordinating rick rac on the seams....don't feel bad about the basket...my bad twin looking "Marley", (and yes, he's a yellow lab),ate my basket that I had for 8 years...now I have a copper looking washtub/planter thingy and it hasn't been eaten yet (I've had it for 3 mos).

Sincerely,

I like matte for anything with fabric and 3-d (dressers, bottles, etc) but I like glossy for my art work, I like the definition in the brushstrokes that glossy gives it.
